THE OUTFITTER'S LEGACY PROJECT
Valor Ridge Outfitters
Valor Ridge Outfitters is a veteran-focused program under The Outfitter’s Legacy Project, built to serve those who have served our country. We offer hands-on experiences with horses, mules, and the outdoors as a way to reconnect, reset, and rebuild confidence outside of everyday pressures.
Our programs center on horsemanship, mule packing, ranch work, and time spent in quiet, working landscapes. Participants learn practical skills while working alongside animals that demand presence, patience, and leadership. There is no rush here. The work is honest, physical, and grounding.
Valor Ridge Outfitters exists to provide veterans with a place where they are understood without explanation. A place to work hard, learn something real, and find community through shared experience. Through the support of our community, we are committed to continuing these programs and expanding opportunities for veterans to find purpose and peace through the land and livestock.

Meet Scott West

After 17 years in the Army & a deployment to Iraq in 04-05 as an Infantryman,I retired and moved on to my next venture in life. I had cowboyed all my life but thats a hard way to make a living. So I started driving truck which paid the bills, but money isn't everything. Every year as the snow melted on the mountain passes I heard the wilderness calling me. It finally took my wife telling me to go get back on a horse and get back in the mountains; she was tired of me being miserable. So I climbed back on a horse and went back to a leading pack strings in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. As soon as I did I found my peace and happiness again. Though its a challenging way to make a living its one of the best I have found since leaving the Army. Ive been packing for almost 10 years now and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
